Description
In 1882, millionaire Potter Palmer moved from the city's south side and built a forty-two room mansion. Other wealthy Chicagoans soon followed, and the neighborhood became one of the richest in Chicago. Today, the area is a mixture of mansions, row houses, and luxury high-rise apartments and is the second most-affluent neighborhood in the United States, behind Manhattan's Upper East Side.
