What is World Postcard Day?
It’s a yearly celebration every October 1st that shines a spotlight on the simple joy of sending and receiving postcards—and the connections they create around the world.
The celebration is organized by Postcrossing, which many of you are active members of. If you’re not familiar, Postcrossing connects people who love sending and receiving postcards, helping them share greetings with others around the world.
This Year's Design
Our previous design served us well for the past five years.
This year, we created a fresh design that keeps key elements from the previous design—those distinctive details like the airmail border that made the original so recognizable.
The design also celebrates Postcrossing’s 20th anniversary by featuring "Mr. World" from our anniversary postcard:
For a twist with this year’s design, we changed the postcards "Mr. World" is holding:
- In his right hand is one of the other Postcrossing 20th anniversary cards.
- In his left hand is a postcard showing this year’s World Postcard Day theme: “Wish you were here!”
