The arched walkway in New York City's magnificent Central Park features over 15,000 handmade encaustic tiles - typically used to cover floors, including the US Capitol Building. Designed by Jacob Mould and built in the 1860s, Bethesda Arcade is the only place in the world where these specialty tiles are used for a ceiling.
