Once the shortest all-weather route between Chicago, IL and Los Angeles, CA – historic Route 66 travels through 8 states. In Missouri, the nearly 300-mile route crosses the state between Illinois and Kansas. Interstate-44 has replaced much of the historic road, though segments of the old road can still be found.
