As we continue celebrating the 250th anniversary of the USA, I’m excited to share our newest postcard with you: Happy Birthday, America!
This design is inspired by the iconic 1917 World War I poster “I Want You for U.S. Army” by James Montgomery Flagg, whose Uncle Sam became a lasting symbol of American spirit and resolve.
Did you know?
- Flagg actually used his own reflection in the mirror for Uncle Sam’s face, then added age, wrinkles, and the trademark white goatee and hair.
- Around four million copies of the “I Want YOU for U.S. Army” poster were printed between 1917 and 1918 and displayed all across the United States.
- The same Uncle Sam artwork and slogan were brought back during World War II as a powerful Army recruitment image.
- Flagg’s pointing, star‑spangled Uncle Sam—with tall hat, blue jacket, and unwavering gaze—became the visual blueprint for how we still picture Uncle Sam today.

This new design joins our growing collection of USA 250th Anniversary postcards—the perfect way to mark this milestone year!
